Accessibility

I want this site to work for everyone who visits, including homeowners in their 60s, 70s and 80s and the families who help them. If something here is hard to read, hard to click or doesn't work with the tools you use, please let us know.

What I've done so far

• Large, clear text. Body text starts at 19 pixels, nothing is smaller than 16, and the text is dark on a light background for strong contrast.
• A text-size button (the two A's at the top of every page) makes all the text about a fifth bigger. It stays on as you move from page to page, and you can press it again to go back. Your device's own zoom works too.
• Plain words and short sections, with headings, checklists and summaries so you can find what you need.
• Built for keyboards and screen readers. There's a "Skip to content" link, every button and field shows where you are, and images have text descriptions.
• Big buttons that are easy to tap, spaced so you don't hit the wrong one.
• Works on phones, with nothing that slides off the side of the screen.
• Printable guides. Every guide has a printable PDF, and the free family guide is made to print and fill in. The PDFs haven't been checked for screen readers yet. If one doesn't work for you, I'll send the same information another way.
• A person, not a robot. You can always call me instead of using a form.

In November 2026 we checked the site's main pages and page types with an automated accessibility checker, and by hand for keyboard use, phone screens and the larger-text setting. I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, the widely used standard for accessible websites.

No site is perfect, so we keep checking and fixing as we find things.

We'll look into it and, in the meantime, can get you the information another way, such as reading it to you over the phone or sending a different format.
